After reviewing them, she said, “These transfers are going somewhere outside your household accounts.”
“Can you identify the recipient?”
“Not from these descriptions. You’ll need the bank’s official records.”
I continued scrolling.
Then I found a transfer for $6,800.
The date was the same day Curtis had taken Sadie to the clinic.
I remembered that week.
Curtis had told me our insurance premium was paid.
He had also complained that the car needed repairs and that we should be careful with money.
Now I was looking at nearly seven thousand dollars transferred out of our account.
I didn’t know where it had gone.
But I knew one thing.
Curtis had been lying.
A nurse came into the lounge.
“Mrs. Dunleavy? Dr. Raman would like to speak with you.”
I put my phone away.
For the moment, my daughter’s health came first.
Everything else could wait.
Part 7: The Operation
Dr. Raman explained that Sadie’s pain and the size of the mass made further delay unsafe.
