Hospital—But When I Secretly Took Her, the Doctor Found Something He Had Been Hiding

Part 13: The Bank Records
While Sadie recovered, I met with a family attorney named Melissa Grant.

I brought the bank statements, the insurance cancellation notice, the clinic report, and the hospital records.

Melissa reviewed everything carefully.

“First, your daughter’s health comes before the financial dispute,” she said. “Make sure her follow-up care is arranged. We’ll also document what happened at the clinic.”

“What about the money?”

“These transactions need to be traced. We should establish exactly where the funds went, whether any accounts were opened without your knowledge, and whether household money was used for gambling or investments.”

I showed her the $6,800 transfer.

She studied the account information.

“Do you recognize this recipient?”

“No.”

“Then we’ll request the bank’s official records.”

Over the next several weeks, the picture became clearer.

Curtis had opened an online trading account without telling me.

He had also used several betting platforms.

The money wasn’t simply lost in one bad investment.
