“It means the notary commission exists.”
He turned the monitor.
A state record showed Lydia Elaine Mercer, active notary public.
The business address listed beneath her name made me lean forward.
West Phoenix Estate Solutions.
I recognized the company immediately.
“That’s Allison’s firm.”
Martin nodded.
“Is Lydia one of her coworkers?”
“I don’t know.”
Martin picked up the phone.
He called his paralegal and asked her to pull every public filing connected to the attempted transfer of our property.
When he hung up, he said, “There’s something else we need to discuss.”
I already knew I wasn’t going to like it.
“The house transfer request was filed, but it hasn’t completed.”
“That’s what the bank said.”
“The bank only sees the financial notice attached to the transaction. The county recorder’s office will tell us what was actually submitted.”
“So the house is still ours.”
