My 13-year-old son sold his beloved guitar to buy a new wheelchair for a girl in his class

“Sarah Vance?” the taller officer asked.

“Yes, that’s me.”

“I’m Officer Daniels, and this is Officer Cooper. We’d like a moment with you and your son.”

My stomach tightened.

Julian appeared in the hallway.

The moment he saw their uniforms, his face lost its color.

“Mom, what’s going on?”

I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Officer Daniels confirmed that Julian attended Westbrook Middle School and had recently purchased a wheelchair for a girl named Maya.

“Yes,” I answered nervously.

The officers exchanged a look.

“Mrs. Vance, something else happened yesterday that you’re unaware of.”

I turned toward Julian.

“Sweetheart, is there something you haven’t told me?”

He shook his head.

“I don’t know anything else, Mom.”

Officer Cooper stepped forward.

“Your son isn’t in trouble. Someone contacted our department last night, and that’s why we’re here.”

“Who contacted you?”
