Hospital—But When I Secretly Took Her, the Doctor Found Something He Had Been Hiding

She looked away.

A short time later, the ultrasound technician asked another doctor to review the images.

Then came a CT scan.

Forty minutes after that, a pediatric gynecologist named Dr. Priya Raman entered the room with another specialist.

Neither was smiling.

Dr. Raman pulled a chair beside the bed.

“Mrs. Dunleavy, we’ve found a large mass in Sadie’s abdomen.”

My fingers went cold.

“A tumor?”

“It may be a tumor, but we don’t yet know what type. The mass appears to originate near the right ovary. It’s large enough to be causing significant pressure, and we’re concerned about the possibility of twisting around its blood supply.”

I looked at Sadie.

“Is she going to be okay?”

“We’re going to take this one step at a time. We need further evaluation, and surgery may be necessary. The immediate priority is making sure she is stable and treating the cause of her pain.”
