And then comes the question that should make us reflect:
Why do we judge someone before knowing their story?
Perhaps a person who seems different has simply walked a path we know nothing about…
Perhaps behind those patches lie years of learning self-acceptance.
Perhaps there were moments when she didn’t want to look in the mirror.
Perhaps she once chose specific clothing just to avoid questions.
Or perhaps, after that entire journey, she decided she no longer had any reason to hide.
We don’t know these details about the woman in the photograph, and it would be irresponsible to invent them. But her image allows us to imagine a reality lived by many: the fight against prejudice can be much more complex than the physical condition itself.
