“This is absurd.”
Judge Porter looked over her glasses.
“Mr. Ellison, remain seated.”
He obeyed.
The room had changed.
The people who had entered expecting a routine proceeding were now watching the first pieces of a much larger question fall into place.
Judge Porter reviewed the documents again.
“Mrs. Ellison, do you have evidence connecting your savings to the company payment?”
“Yes.”
“Bring it to the evidentiary hearing.”
“I will.”
“And until then, do not contact the notary or any company employee about this matter.”
“I understand.”
She looked toward Andrew.
“Mr. Ellison, your counsel will provide Mrs. Ellison with complete copies of the company’s relevant financial disclosures within five business days.”
Calder began to object.
Judge Porter raised her hand.
“That is an order.”
Calder sat back.
Judge Porter then addressed all of us.
“This court is not interested in humiliating anyone.”
“Divorce is difficult enough without turning every disagreement into a public contest.”
