Part 3: The Car Wash on Fenwick Road
“Last Wednesday,” Kevin began, “a guy from my office, Dale, stopped by my desk. He lives near the big commercial car wash on Fenwick Road, on the far side of town.”

Dale had seen two boys in rubber boots hauling buckets between a row of waiting sedans. He’d thought they looked familiar. Then he remembered the family photo on Kevin’s desk.

“He assumed I knew,” Kevin said. “He said, ‘Your twins are working hard over there. Good for them.’ I laughed along and then went into the stairwell and sat on the steps for ten minutes.”

I turned to my sons. “You told us you were at the library. Or at Tyler’s house.”
