My Husband Had a Vasectomy and Accused Me of Cheating—Then My Ultrasound Revealed Two Heartbeats

I almost commented. Then I remembered Camille’s folder. FACTS, NOT FEAR. I saved the post, noted the date, and closed my phone.

The twins were beginning to make themselves known through nausea and exhaustion. At my next appointment, Dr. Porter talked through nutrition, monitoring, and the possibility that a twin pregnancy might require more frequent visits. I left with a schedule that felt more useful than any rumor.

CHAPTER 10: THE NOTARY’S JOURNAL

Camille obtained a copy of the notary’s journal through the lender’s review process. The entry corresponding to the home-equity documents was incomplete. It listed my name but not the identification details ordinarily recorded by that notary.

A document examiner compared the disputed signature with several verified samples. Her preliminary report identified meaningful differences, but she explained that conclusions had to be qualified and that originals were preferable to scans.

The lender opened a formal fraud investigation. It did not immediately cancel the loan, and I was frustrated by the slow pace. Camille reminded me that institutions were required to examine the evidence, not simply accept my account because I sounded sincere.
