“What’s that?”
“Each other.”
His expression softened.
“Exactly. As long as we’re together and nobody controls our lives, everything will be fine.”
At the time, I thought he was being romantic.
Now I wonder whether he was already planning something.
Our wedding day began like a dream.
The reception hall was filled with flowers, warm lights, music, and the laughter of people we loved.
Karl looked happier than I’d ever seen him.
He’d removed his jacket, rolled up his sleeves, and was joking with several guests near the dance floor.
I remember watching him from across the room, thinking how lucky I was.
Then everything changed.
Karl suddenly stopped laughing.
His hand moved toward his chest.
His expression twisted with discomfort.
Before anyone could reach him, he collapsed.
“Karl!”
I rushed toward him, my white wedding dress trailing across the floor.
Someone shouted for an ambulance.
