My DIL demanded full custody of my twin grandsons after abandoning them for 10 years

My DIL demanded full custody of my twin grandsons after abandoning them for 10 years—what one boy told the judge made the entire courtroom freeze.

I’m seventy-three years old.

Ten years ago, two police officers came to my door at two in the morning. They told me my only son, Marcus, had been killed in a car crash. Slick road. He’d lost control on the highway curve just outside town.

His wife, Desiree, survived almost completely unharmed.

Two days after Marcus’s funeral, my doorbell rang. When I opened it, my two-year-old twin grandsons, Milo and Theo, stood there in pajamas. Behind them sat a garbage bag stuffed with clothes.

Desiree pushed it toward me.

“I wasn’t made for this struggling-mom life,” she said. “I need to live my own life.”

Then she returned to her car and disappeared.
