Give Your Kitchen Extra Attention
The kitchen is one of the most electrically demanding rooms in many homes.
Refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, ovens, coffee makers, toasters, blenders, and other appliances can all operate in the same space.
During your annual walkthrough, examine appliance cords and plugs for visible damage.
Keep electrical equipment away from water whenever the equipment isn’t specifically designed for that environment.
Also pay attention to outlets located near sinks and other wet areas. These locations often require specialized protection, depending on local electrical codes.
If you’re unsure whether an outlet or circuit has appropriate protection, don’t experiment.
Ask a qualified electrician.
