“When you really love a person, it’s forever. It’s my fault, and I take full responsibility. All she wanted was to have a future with me, but I was too wild back then.”

Years earlier, he had expressed the same belief even more directly, telling The Guardian that he felt some women never dated or married for love anymore. “Not bitter. I had true love once. I know what true love is. True love is forever,” he responded when asked if he was resentful about it.
In 2021, Fabio was still dating and continued to
hope for marriage and children. A recent outing at the time involved dinner and a ride in one of his many awesome cars, though an impressive garage was clearly not enough to persuade him to settle.
But he never lost hope that he would find someone and build a family. In this photo, he launched a contest to win an ultimate Mediterranean island getaway at Military Island in Times Square in New York City, New York, on January 9, 2007. | Source: Getty Images

He wanted a funny, grounded woman who could tolerate nature and would not be frightened by insects. Above all, she could not be consumed by social media. “There is quantity, but I want quality,” he explained while discussing his search. “I still want to have kids.”

His Private Life Comes With Eight Dogs and No Selfies
Fabio doesn’t want a partner obsessed with online apps because he doesn’t have his own social-media
presence and has been blunt about why. In a 2016 interview, he criticized the urge to document every location and ordinary moment with a selfie.

“Something right now that drives me crazy is people are always
taking a selfie,” he said. “You have to take a selfie and post it, ya know, ‘Look at me, I’m on Fifth Avenue. Now I’m on Sixth Avenue. Now I’m on Seventh.’ Who cares?”
He believed constant attention to phones and tablets prevented people from experiencing their own lives. Fabio preferred to stay present, a philosophy that made his disappearance from the daily celebrity cycle easier to understand.
He loved being present for real life and connecting directly with his fans. In this photo, he met and greeted fans at

Still, his distance from social media did not mean he had withdrawn from everything he enjoyed. After turning 65, Fabio described himself as semi-to-mostly retired and said he remained healthy,
exercised every day, and ate carefully.
