Gave Up My Fortune for Love and Married a Poor Farmer.

My father?

What did my father have to do with this?

Jack sighed.

“Mom, please. I know what I’m doing.”

“Then stop looking so worried! You promised me we’d finish this. Once those children arrive, she’ll have no reason to stay. We can finally get what we deserve.”

I covered my mouth to stop myself from making a sound.

Then Jack said something that made my blood run cold.

“She signed the papers already. She doesn’t even know what she agreed to.”
“What papers?” Martha asked.

“The ones she signed when I told her they were hospital documents. Everything is arranged.”

I stepped backward.

My stomach tightened as one of the babies kicked.

I wanted to run into the kitchen and demand an explanation, but I knew I needed to be careful.

If my husband and his mother were planning something, I couldn’t let them know I had discovered it.

I quietly returned to the bedroom.

For the rest of the night, I didn’t sleep.
