Found a Snake in Your House? Here’s What to Do Without Panicking

Navigating Specific Scenarios

Sometimes snakes are found in unusual places, requiring specific actions. If you discover a snake in the toilet, stay calm, close the bathroom door, and place a towel under the crack. Do not flush, as this can agitate

the animal or cause plumbing damage, and call a professional for removal. If you hear a rustling sound in the walls, resist the urge to cut into the drywall. Verify the sound, and if you are certain it is a snake, call an expert who can use specialized cameras or safely open the wall.

In the unfortunate event of a bite, keep the victim as calm as possible, keep the affected area below heart level, remove tight clothing or jewelry, and seek emergency medical care immediately. Never apply a tourniquet, cut the wound, or attempt to suck out venom. For pets, keep them still and transport them to an emergency veterinarian right away.
