Chapter 1: My husband brought his mistress into our bedroom while I lay dying, then let her measure the windows for the curtains she planned to hang after my funeral. h6368

David suddenly released her.

He looked toward my bed.

Then he said something that made my blood turn to ice.

“Do you really think you’re the first woman I’ve had to make disappear?”

Jessica went completely still.

I stared at him.

And for the first time, David realized he had said too much.

But he didn’t know that the small security camera above the bedroom door had recorded every word.

**Including the confession that connected Caroline’s death to mine.**

Then his phone rang.

He answered.

“Yes?”

A man’s voice came through the speaker.

David listened.

His face changed.

“What do you mean she’s missing?”

He turned toward the window.

“Since when?”

A pause.

Then he whispered:

“Find Emma. Before she reaches the police.”

The call ended.

David slowly lowered the phone.

Jessica stared at him.

“Emma?”

He didn’t answer.

She looked toward me.

“David, what have you done?”

He turned to her.
