CHAPTER 1: My 14-year-old son grew out his hair to make a wig for his classmate who lost hers because of cancer L007

I contacted an organization that makes wigs, and one morning I took Ethan there to have his hair cut.

When Ethan gave the finished
wig to Lily, she burst into tears.

She touched the soft brown hair with both hands.

Then she laughed.

Actually laughed.

I thought that was the end of the story.

But the next morning, my phone rang.

It was Ethan’s principal, Mr. Harrison.

“Ma’am, I’m sorry, but you need to come to the school immediately. Lily’s father is here, and he’s demanding to see you right away.”

My knees went weak.

Ten minutes later, I was already driving toward the school.

I barely knew Lily’s parents.

They were private.

Distant.
And if I was being truthful, I’d always felt they didn’t particularly like Ethan.

When I entered Mr. Harrison’s office, Ethan was sitting in one of the chairs.
