“Receivership?! That’s impossible! That is a fifty-million-dollar corporation! Arthur, tell him! You own forty-nine percent of the holding trust!”
“I don’t own forty-nine percent anymore, Garrison,” Arthur Vance said softly, taking a single, measured step around the head of the table.
He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a certified corporate resolution executed at nine o’clock that morning.
“Under Article Eight of the Vance Family Trust indenture—which your late father and I signed in 1994,” Arthur said, every syllable dropping like an anvil onto the floorboards, “any operational partner who commits an act of gross statutory negligence resulting in human fatality, and subsequently conceals that liability from the corporate board through fraudulent transfer of public funds, automatically forfeits all common equity back to the founding partner.”
