Emily picked it up.
Her eyes widened as she read.
“You filed a complaint against Daniel? He helped me and our babies!”
“He interfered in our marriage!”
“He drove us somewhere safe,” she replied.

He had no answer.

I turned toward Mom.
“There’s something else we need to discuss.”

“What now?”

“What money?”
I glanced at my mother.

“Ever since Emily became pregnant, I’ve been sending Nathan money every month to help with medical appointments, baby equipment, and household expenses.”
