A Woman’s Foster Son Came Down to Breakfast with a Packed Suitcase on His Eighteenth Birthday – Then He Asked If She Knew About Her Husband’s Condition

“Richard, explain yourself.”

“I agreed to become foster parents because you needed something after the treatments.”

I can manage for a little while.

“Something? Nolan is our son!”

“I supported you through everything, Emma. Then you wanted a child, so I agreed. Six years is enough. We deserve our old life back.”

“Did you ever see him as our son?”

Richard sighed. “You could show some gratitude. I sacrificed six years.”

With that, he turned and walked into his study, shutting the door behind him.

I didn’t want you to regret choosing me.

Nolan stood. “I’m sorry. I’ll go.”

“No,” I said firmly. “You’re staying.”

“Mom, please don’t fight.”

“You’re not causing this fight.”

I carried his suitcase upstairs and placed it beside his bed. “You belong here.”

Six years is enough.

“But Dad…”

“Richard doesn’t get to decide whether you’re loved.”
