Brandt Jean was 18 years old and had just heard Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer who had killed his brother Botham in 2018, sentenced to 10 years in prison. She said she had mistaken the apartment for her own and thought he was an intruder. The jury found her guilty of murder.
